Hi, I’m Katie!
I have been practicing meditation daily for 10 years. I am trained and certified by Mindful Schools to teach meditation to grades K-12.
I lead several weekly meditation groups for adults in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I work with families and individuals both virtually and in person. I have guided individuals, couples, parents and children, and multigenerational groups at family reunions. I have also led large group sessions for student organizations at the University of Michigan Hillel and the University of Michigan Panhellenic Council.
Meditation has been a life changing tool for me to reduce anxiety, improve energy, tune in to gratitude, and ground myself into the present moment. I am thrilled to be growing my practice in order to help others see how mindfulness can change and improve their lives too.
Why Meditation?
Mindfulness is a free, accessible tool that anyone can use to be more present and to live a healthier, happier life. Establishing a regular meditation practice is incredibly rewarding and can be life changing.
The benefits of a regular mindfulness practice are numerous, including physical (better sleep, lower blood pressure, improved digestion, managing chronic pain), mental (decreased anxiety and depression, helps with eating disorders) and the ability to respond to stimulus in a clearer more thoughtful way (less reactive). Read more about the benefits of mindfulness here.
The definition of mindfulness is to pay attention to the present moment, on purpose and without judgement. During each session I lead in my meditation practice, I guide participants through the practice of paying attention to the present moment through the use of gentle reminders to come back over and over again to what is truly happening and to experience the body, the breath, and the thoughts as they come into awareness.
